So far in the book Mark seems a little extreme. The book portrays him as a typical college student, the only exception is that he is an expert when it comes to technology. The book takes a more gentle approach when describing Mark. It definitely describes him as an arrogant jerk, but it can't even compare to how bad the film describes him. The film is basically taking a continuous shot at Mark's personality and character. It seem's relentless and it makes the viewers dislike him as well. The question is.....which one is more accurate?
how very observant of you zach...
ReplyDeleteZach -- good work and the answer probably is somewhere in between, wouldn't you think? My dad came by today and asked me if I'd see the film. Yep, I told him.
ReplyDelete"Jerk," is all he said.
My dad's a bright man -- went to Harvard, in fact, so he could've been predisposed to bias -- so his reaction makes it interesting to me how quickly people take movies to heart.
Not that I'm concerned about whether or not Zuckerberg gets a fair shake from my Dad -- or from other movie goers who allow this to be their only source of knowledge about the man behind FB -- I just find it interesting how we form opinions and often leave them as such without what...(Drum roll please)...INVESTIGATING the other side!
And there, Zach, is a big part of English 120: The other side.
We'll be up to that, and you're onto it, with your question. good show, mc
One confusion about movie and Mark's interview. On the movie they showed mark actually create facebook just to get some girls however, one of his interview and on the book he insists that he was still loving same girl. He says I love creating things that is why facebook was created. What the review says about the movie “The Social Network” is less of a biopic of the real" I guess they just create new Mark Zuckerberg according to their imagination to get audience attention. They might think that real Mark might not was interested by others. If someone creates something incredible, does not mean he needs to be weird or different than others. This is just my view :) because i think that on movie they were very cruel about Mark character as you think.
ReplyDeleteZach, I completely agree with you. The movie really does make Mark appear as the enemy. They might have done this to attract the attention of more viewers and get them thinking about how the "real" Mark Zuckerberg really is. I'm not sure which one is true. I would hope it's the Mark in the book.
